You lot are amazing! Every week, it's great to see you out and about, representing Fylde Coast Runners in such a wonderful way! Always smiling, always looking like you're really relishing the challenges that you set yourselves. It fills us with an enormous sense of pride; so I'd like to say 'THANKS' to each and every one of you. We're a social running club; unlike our fellow affiliated running clubs, so we only get to see you at our runs (or out and about if FCR Events are providing traffic management, or marshaling services.) Keep it up!
Last Sunday a good many Fylde Coast Runners took part in the Summer 10K. Well done to everyone - a few shots that I've knicked from a variety of Facebook Pages (I'm not stalking; merely undertaking a degree of investigative skill :))
A busy weekend, with the Vital Events Southport Half Marathon, 10K and Mile Fun Run on Sunday. Trawling through Facebook (as I do) I came across some images of extremely happy runners on their travels.
First up is Samantha Edwards who, alongside Ben Smithers took part in the Manchester Colour Run
Next up, with a PB at Southport Half is our Lisa Scholes
David Niblock decided he'd run the Potteries Marathon on Sunday (very up and down I'm told (the Marathon, not David)) and did so in 5:40. Nice one David
I bumped into several other Fylde Coast Runners on Sunday (easily identifiable by the bright shirts!) to name but a few, Adam and Carol Bull, Carole Bailey, Simon Couchman, Jenny Randle, Ben Smithers, Gwenda Marshall and Dew Griffiths. Great to see you all guys and well done on a terrific race.
Congrats go to Ben Smithers who was the sole Fylde Coast Runner at the Catforth 10K this weekend. Ben came through in 60th place with an impressive time of 00:46:12. Nice one, Ben!
With summer now approaching (it's chucking it down as I type this, but we live in hope!) members of Fylde Coast Runners are busy sorting their race diaries for the glorious months that lay ahead. There's the Summer 10K on July 10th (next month!) and the Windmill and Fleetwood Half to look forward to with a good splashing of FCR colour at each event. We are always keen to know where your Club will be represented and enjoy reading of your achievements.
We'll see 18 (so far) Fylde Coast Runners on 10th July - a great turnout! There's still time to enter - see below.
Want to join our Club? It's a simple application process and we'd love to have you on board. Head on over to www.fyldecoastrunners.com and click on the Club link, or press the button below.
A fantastic morning on Blackpool Promenade, Saturday 28 May when 157 runners set off on their 10 mile run. 10 Fylde Coast Runners took part (Anna Ciszewska & Lisa Scholes are pictured)
Terrific results all round guys!
Looks as though a good number took part in the Crazy Cow 10K at the weekend. The craziest of all has to be Samantha Edwards - a very lovable Moo. Also taking part were Sue Lee and her other half, Patrick Needham. Great pics guys :)
Lisa Scholes only went and did it yesterday! Absolutely no doubt that she'll go under 35 minutes in (let's have a wager) less than 12 months time. Well done, Lisa. Representing Fylde Coast Runners splendidly in Manchester :)
Lisa will be running on Saturday at the Promenade 10 Miler. Time? Well, in 2015 she finished in 1:19:56. I'm gonna go for 1:16:32 - any advance?
It's always great to know when you're 'Out n About' representing your Running Club and we want to shout out to one and all when you cross that all important finish line! I tend to find out by trawling the internet or I 'steal' images from Facebook. Email me at email@example.com if you want me to publish your results, pictures etc. A handful of Fylde Coast Runners were in action at Worden Park on Sunday - here are their superb results
David only knew he was running the Chester Half 24 hours before touch down! Not one to pass an opportunity to blaze the trail, he set off and did it in 2.18.45. David you are one in a million!
You were a busy lot over the weekend. Samantha Edwards and Dawn Callaghan ran the Beach 10K - it was Dawn's first attempt and, despite some misgivings, she did it! Nice one Dawn!
We currently have 85 members (at the time of typing!) with new members joining every day. Once again, the Promenade will be awash with red, blue and pink vests and shirts and we can't wait to see you proudly sporting your Club attire.
We've been a tad slow in getting your merchandise out to you. No excuse is really good enough, so can I just say we've been really busy with event 'stuff'. 'Sorry, Miss, it won't happen again'.
Don't forget that, when registering for most of the events on our website, in order to benefit from your 20% discount, you must insert your UKA number (this has been provided to you in an email) when prompted to do so.
I'll be adding a few pictures as this blog grows, so keep sending them in.
