All you need to know for race day...

BIB NUMBER COLLECTION
Your bib number, which includes your chip timing tags is available to collect from the events office the week before the event at Fylde Coast Runners, Unit 1a Hoo Hill Estate, Blackpool, FY3 7HJ. We are open from 10am – 4pm Monday to Friday.
You can collect the full week before event day.

If you cannot make it to the events office before the race, the registration desks will be open (Saturday) from 9.00am until 2.00pm and on race morning from 7.30am. When you arrive, the race-makers will be there to hand you your pack, which will all be in alphabetical order. The race pack includes your all-important bib number, which should be fastened securely to the front of your running top. The chip timing tags are pre-attached to your bib number, so make sure you don’t fold, cut, deface or damage it in any way or you will not get a finishing time. Pins to attach your bib number are provided if you need them.

RACE HQ
The race headquarters is located on the Middle Walkway on North Promenade. This is north of Blackpool North Pier opposite the Grand and Imperial Hotels. Look over the first sea wall and you will see the HQ area. The nearest postcode is FY1 2JQ.

CAR PARKING
Blackpool is full of car parks, and there is also on-street parking available north of North Pier. Please make sure you park legally; the wardens are everywhere in Blackpool and start work early!

BAGGAGE STORAGE & KEY LOCKER
We have an un-manned baggage storage area for small bags, jackets etc. This is located next to the main registration area. Do not leave any valuables in the baggage area. We also have a key storage locker at Event Support Trailer, which will be located next to the start/finish area. Hand your keys to a FCR crew member at the trailer to be secured until you have finished the run.

TOILETS
Portable toilets are available at the event, located near to the start/finish area. Make sure you don’t leave it until the last minute to use them, they will become very busy just before the start. There are toilets on the course, which are the ‘Danfo Superloos’. These require 30p to operate. We suggest taping a coin or two to the back of your bib number just in case you may need to use the loos on the course.

MEDICAL SUPPORT
The team from Remote Medical Services will be on the course and at the finish. We hope you don’t need them, but are there if you do. Make sure you complete the medical information on the back of your bib number if you have any medical conditions, allergies or specific medical information that may be important.

RESULTS
Provisional results will be posted at the Information Trailer (near to the finish) during the event. Official results will be published on the events website as soon as they have been checked and confirmed. Usually the same day. If you have a problem with your result, use the contact form on the results page to make your enquiry.

The race is chip timed from start to finish. You will receive a ‘Gun Time’ which is your official time, and a ‘Chip Time’ which is your start point to finish point time. All prizes are awarded on the official gun time.

RACE STARTS
There are two starting lanes:
Marathon runners line up facing Blackpool Tower and run south, Half Marathon runners line up with their backs to Blackpool Tower and run north.
YOU MUST ENSURE YOU ARE IN THE CORRECT START LANE – THIS IS YOUR RESPONSIBILITY.
RACE DAY
Arrive in plenty of time to allow you to park, collect your race pack (if not already done), get changed and visit the toilet etc. Just before the start the toilets will become busy so plan your visit carefully. Please fill in the medical/contact information section on the back of your running number. Be careful not to damage or lose your number, as replacements can’t be issued. If there’s a risk you may blackout during the race (for example if you suffer from fits), put a red cross on the front of your number. Please pin your number on your FRONT without folding or covering it - it needs to be seen by the race marshals. Do not pass your running number onto somebody else without notifying registration first. This is to ensure the results are correct and for obvious safety and medical reasons. When you are happy that you are ready to run, make your way to the start area. The route to the start point is clearly marked. Line up behind the start line. There will be a few safety announcements and then the marathon and half marathon race will start at 9.30am. The route you are running on is open to the public so be aware of some pedestrians and cyclists. The course is traffic free. We advise that you do not wear iPods or similar devices whilst running. You may not hear marshals or indeed fellow runners if they need help! At the finish you will be awarded with your runners medal. There is water available and also medics should they be needed.
